2 games ??? That's an absolute Joke...

That's a deliberate intent to injure... He could have hit him in the chest or arm.. went right at the head...

WTF is the league thinking.

We may not be good. But I'll say it again this is why Murray has Deslauriers / Guds / Ritchie and Manson around ...

cause you can't count on player safety to do the right thing..

I hate to bring evidence to the table, but if you go back to last year they give everyone 2 games for an illegal check to the head... unless that player was a repeat offender, then those guys got bonus games. Look it up for yourself

This premeditated cheap shot should have been 5+ games. Dahlen could be out for a few weeks and now is susceptible to concussions in the future. What a joke.

Why do we not have anyone on this team that can address the cheap shots? GMJB should be held accountable for allowing this team to get pummeled into last place.

maybe Jack can become a goon...........Hockey is still a game of emotion and intimidation...How scared do you think Dahlin will be now?? Can you say bust?

Wow, that was dirty and totally unnecessary. It is a shame that Cernak won't have to sit out as long as Dahlin will need to. At first I was shocked to see that the refs missed it (especially since Dahlin had just passed the puck, and the refs probably were still watching him) but then I saw Tim Peel listed as the head ref. No surprise there - he is the worst ref in the league. This isn't the first time he missed a concussion-inducing head shot.

Although the nature of the hit is different this hit kind of reminds me of Rinaldo's (boarding) hit on Letang years back:

https://www.sportsnet.ca/...s-vs-pittsburgh-penguins/

- a team's top defenseman gets taken out by the other team's top goon. In this case Rinaldo got a 5 minute boarding major and then an 8 game suspension. Of course, Rinaldo is the personification of "repeat offender" while Cernak has not built up a reputation yet.

I agree 100% about Cernak. If it was up to me, he would be benched and traded to some other team that doesn't mind having a bald goon on their roster. Seriously, I am done with that guy. F him. I want him gone from the Lightning. And should something happen to him, I won't feel bad about it all. He has it coming.

The Cernak attack on Dahlin is very similar to the Nikita Kucherov low bridge hit on Vlad Sobotka during last month's Global Series in Stockholm, Sweden.

Dude, you are mad about the Kucherov hit. I get it. But seriously, it was nowhere close to the Cernak hit. Not even in the same league. Jesus F-ing Christ man, watch the play a few more times. It was a very unfortunate hit, but it was not predatory or filthy like the Cernak elbow.

Now, as far as I am concerned (who cares right?), this is the second time in recent memory (or ever) that Kuch has injured somebody. The first was the Vatanen hit. He is on probation with me. I still don't think he's a dirty player (yet) and the hit in Sweden was a botched hip-check. Not intentional. You can female dog and moan about it, but it doesn't change what happened. Repeating it 1000x times doesn't make it dirty. If this becomes a pattern (one more time makes three), then I will change my mind and be done with Kuch also. Reckless at worst. If these "borderline" hits from Kuch keep happening, then he's obviously dirty and being slick about it. I'm just not there yet. And this isn't homer-ism talking. I just don't think we saw the same play, because the way you describe it doesn't resemble what I witnessed. I sincerely hope Kuch is not another Marchand and if he is, I will be the first to admit it and cheer when karma pays him back. I watch hockey for skill, not injuries.

There should be a rule change. Suspensions (in cases like this) will last as long as the injured player is unable to play.

I’m obviously a Leaf fan and I knew another Bolts player wouldn’t be punished what he deserved.

Kuch got off scott free. Marchrat gets away with slew foots, licking players with his bodily fluids and it’s all ok. Jeremy Jacobs lives still☹️🤬😡

If you don’t have anyone that can step up and protect your stars, you’ll get pushed around by goons like this all day. Dirty hit that should be at least 10 games, no question.

If you don’t let players protect against it, give them enough games to remember it the next time they decide to play that way.

You obviously don't read Garth very often as this is right up there with the usual stuff.

As for the rest of your post, I guess if a team isn't "good" means you can take liberties and illegal action against them as much as you want huh?

Your take right there is just as bad as the "blog"

This is the NHL’s biggest problem And has been for years. Stupid, short-sighted, old school
Mentality rules the game. The people in charge of the league AND the union need to be changed over. They are both complicit in this farce.

This is clearly Rasmus Dahlin's fault.

1) He has a head.

2) He used that head as the principle point of contact with Cernak's elbow with intent to injure.

It is the the decision of the department of NHL player safety to suspend Rasmus Dahlin, effective immediately, for an indefinite period of time.

He will be reinstated upon the following conditions:

1) When he remembers where he is.

2) Proves that is able to skate freely and unimpeded from headaches and dizziness.

Further,

Eric Cernak is given two games to rest and recuperate from the vicious attack. The NHL department of player safety asks that you pray to whatever higher being you serve for his psychological well being from this premeditated intent to injure his elbow.

Sounds about right
